Meet the Staff!

Jeffrey Heagerty - Director
Outdoor Pursuits: Mountain biking, all board sports, and kayaking.
I was born in Nebraska, raised on Sembach AB, and graduated from K-town High School. Since then, I have taught civics in Washington, DC, kayaking and windsurfing in Florida, and snowboarding in Colorado. I’ve worked for the AF and the Army Outdoor Rec programs. In October, 2006, I arrived here at Spangdahlem AB. This is a great place to live and work for anybody who enjoys the outdoors; I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Michael Kirsch - Adventure Program Director
Outdoor Pursuits: Hunting, fishing, skiing and diving (scuba and sky).
I’m from Batavia, NY, but have lived here in Germany for the last 28 years. In 2003, I retired as a First Sergeant after 26 years of AF active duty. Outdoor Rec called and I answered, taking on my current position here at ODR shortly after retirement. I’m an Advanced Open Water Scuba Instructor with over 500 dives, an inactive skydiving/tandem instructor with over 700 jumps. I have two hunting dogs that I trained and bred and with whom I spend most of my free time.

Ralf Heine - Equipment and Facility Manager
Outdoor Pursuits: Cooking, camping, hiking
Born 1960 in Cologne. Raised in the Local Area. I started working with the AF in 1983 at the Bitburg Air Base Dining Facility. In 1992, I moved into a new position in the Publication Distribution Office. In 1994, as a result of the base closure, I transferred to Spangdahlem Air Base Recreation. Hobbies: Food and playing the Guitar in my own Band “Remake”.
